Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home
Elephant Transit home was established in 1995 by the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation. This is the best home to orphaned and injured baby elephants who are unable to survive on their own in the wild. Baby Elephants are fed 3 times per day. After rehabilitation, the elephants are released back into the wild, many into the UdaWalawe National Park. You can observe many baby Elephants during the feeding time from viewing platform.
Kataragama Temple and Perahera festival
The Kataragama temple is one of the ancient sites. Kataragama Hindu temple has a shrine of Skanda Kumara, also commonly known as Kataragama Deviyo. Another major attraction of Kataragama is the Buddhist Stupa Kiri Vehera. Kataragama Perahera festival is a annual festival in July/August and one of famous festival in Sri Lanka. Kataragama Perahera or Festival is a procession of Elephants, Dance performances, Fire walkers, Fire eaters, Musicians and Acrobatics etc.
Boat Safari in Walawe River
The Walawe River is one of longest River in Sri Lanka, begins from Adam’s Peak. We can start the Boat Tour in Walawe River from Ambalantota. This area has a rich Biodiversity, which consist of 6 varieties of Mangroves, 72 species of Birds, 52 Fish species, 38 Plants varieties and 28 Animal species. If you are Birder, we recommend starting boat tour at 7 am or 4 pm. During the boat safari, can be seeing mostly Monkeys, Peacocks, Bats, Eagles, and Herons, king fisher, Water Monitors, and Cormorant.
Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary
Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary is excellent choice for birders. More than 150 bird species have been identified and also with different kind of fish species, mammals and reptiles. This bird watching tour takes about 2 -3 hours. Tour can be started either 6 am in the morning or 3.30 pm. You can ride paddle boat and the climb rock in this sanctuary.
Yala National Park
Yala is the second largest and most famous national park for Leopards in Sri Lanka. You will see during the safari Elephants, Wild Boars, Crocodiles, Spotted deer, Buffaloes, Monkeys, Peacocks and many species of Birds.
Bundala National Park
If you are a birder, Bundala national park is a best place for you to obseve bird life. It is also home to small population of Elephants.
Udawalawe National Park
Udawalawe National park is a best place to observe wild asian elephants. you will see also crockediles, water buffalos, birds species and many other animals.
Blowhole
Blowhole is located in Kudawella 12 km from Tangalle. The Blowhole is a result of seawater coming in through submerged cavern and pushed upwards where water will come up due to the pressure created from the surface of the sea.
Wewurukannala Temple
Visit Srilanka’s largest seated Buddha Statue, which is 50 metres (160 ft) tall. Wewurukannala Vihara is most famous for a gargantuan seated Buddha.
Dry zone botanical Garden in Hambantota
This is the first ever dry zone Botanic gardens in Sri Lanka and it has an extent of 300 acres. Botanical garden consists of plants and trees and herbal plants that are grown in dry zone.
